Kauai, the Garden Isle, is the oldest of the inhabited islands.  The island's population is ~63,000.  Kauai has more beaches, rivers, streams and waterfalls than any of the other Hawaiian islands. Kauai also has the only navigable rivers in the state and the longest is the Wailua at 19.2 miles.  Great for Standup Paddleboarding.

The Na Pali coast is located on the western side of the island.  (Home to the Kalalau trail (11 miles long one way).  Na Pali translates to "the Cliffs".  Seeing it by helicopter is the most awe-inspiring way to see it.

Waimea Canyon. Better known as the "Grand Canyon of the Pacific"

Mt. Wai'ale'ale - The wettest place on Earth.  ~450 inches of rain at its peak annually.

Although Kauai has some commercialization in the city of Lihue, the island has a building code that dictates that "no building shall be taller than a coconut palm".   This allows for the island to not become over-run by high rise hotel chains and condos.

The island is over 70% inaccessible by foot.
